As technology has always been an area of passion for me in education I was very excited for this class. Also, the fact that we were to have a teacher, Mark Hines, that I was familiar with was another bonus. The topics in this class were always relevant to me as a technology leader at my school. The part the I most enjoyed were the class discussions and the takeaways. I would frequently find myself in my Oahu apartment listening to a podcast that was brought up or watching some videos that were discussed. In another of my classmates blogposts they mentioned something about an overwhelming amount of information, and I would agree with that for a 2.5 week course. However, I like that I have access to all of the documents and can go back at anytime to find a resource that was mentioned. Some of my biggest take aways have been rediscovering Malcom Gladwell's Revisionist History Podcast, that is now a top podcast on my list. Also having the chance to look at and discuss with the cohort some of the technology plans from other school districts to help guide my work as a tech leader.
One area of improvement is the course title. I think that we did so much more than technology planning and management in this course. It has the same problem that the Schools of the Future Conference does, people think it is all about tech, when it is about so much more.I look forward to continuing the work with the cohort and to hopefully continue to cross paths with Mark Hines in our professional circles.
Thanks Nathaniel - I am glad you had takeaways from this work! We will continue to learn and collaborate together.
